Body Contouring

Body contouring, also known as body sculpting, is the reshaping of nearly all parts of the body through the removal of excess sagging skin and fat. The result is a better-proportioned appearance with smoother contours. In fact, body contouring procedures help you get rid of that stubborn fat that seems resistant to your fat loss efforts.

Who Is not a Good Candidate for Body Contouring?

Although body contouring is a great option for almost every adult, there are some things that would not make you a good candidate for body contouring methods. For instance, patients who have scars, infections or open sores in the areas that are supposed to be sculpted might not be great candidates. These methods are not performed on individuals who have chronic medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, a weakened immune system, restricted blood flow. In addition, people who are looking for drastic weight loss results are not good candidates as well, because body contouring is used for fat loss, not weight loss.

Body contouring procedures

Body contouring procedures that may be recommended by the doctor include:

  • Breast surgery (breast reduction, breast lift, breast augmentation)
  • Facelift
  • Arm lift
  • Thigh lift
  • Lower body lifts
  • Tummy tuck
  • Liposuction
  • Lipomatic
  • Lipo laser

Liposuction

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes excess fat from different areas of the body and improves contours. It can be used either for small areas, such as double chin or larger areas, such as thighs or buttocks. Many people choose liposuction because it can often be used to treat a large area in one session, with permanent results.

To begin a liposuction procedure, the surgeon will make a small incision to insert a device attached to a suction tube, called a cannula, into one of the fat pockets. The cannula will be then moved back and forth beneath the skin, breaking up the fat layer and suctioning it out. If the surgeon is working on a large area, such as abdomen, he may need to make more than one incision. Depending on the number and size of the targeted areas, operation duration can vary.

Lipomatic

Lipomatic is the newest way to drain fat and get rid of the excess body fat. This method is done with infra-intensive waves, which is the safest way to lose weight. For almost all areas of the body, including the abdomen, arm, thigh, buttocks, back, neck and so on. Lipomatic is performed on an outpatient basis and normally without using general anesthesia. The skin absorption in this method is far better than other methods of suction due to less damage to skin trabeculae.

During the surgery, fat cells are destroyed physically, not by radiation or heat, and emulsified by vibrating movements of the cannula tube. Then fats are removed from the body gently through the device. Lipomatic not only leads to weight loss but also changes the size and form. Lipomatic is a simple procedure with satisfactory results and minimal risks.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck, also called abdominoplasty, is a method of body contouring that creates a smoother, firmer abdomen for both women and men by removing excess fat and skin, and restoring weakened or separated muscles in many cases.

To begin surgery, the doctor will make a horizontal incision just above the pubic hairline to minimize any visual scars. The amount of tissue and skin to be removed will determine the shape and length of the incision. Once the abdominal skin is lifted and excess tissue is trimmed, weakened muscles can be tightened. A second incision may be needed around the belly button to remove excess skin in the upper abdomen. In many cases, liposuction is performed to enhance the result.

Lipo laser

Lipo Laser is a non-invasive body sculpting procedure that has grown more popular. It helps reduce fat in various areas of the body, including the waist, back, abdomen, arms, thighs, and chin. This liposuction alternative is one of the growing list of laser lipolysis treatments and is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Lipo laser is a low-risk procedure and the safer option when it comes to surgically slimming down or removing excess fat from the body. The lasers work on the skin to melt the fat under the skin and converts it into a liquid that can be drained through tiny dissections with a little vacuum pump.

Body Lift Surgery

Body lift is an extremely effective body contouring procedure for patients who have excess skin, fat, and other tissues after a significant weight loss. This method of body contouring improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat. Patients may choose to undergo either an upper, mid, or lower body lift depending on the location of the excess skin. So this procedure can involve removing excess skin, fat, and tissue in the breasts, arms, thighs, buttocks, hips, love handles, or lower back.

Incision patterns vary based on the areas of the body an individual wish to target. Once the surgeon has removed unwanted, excess fat and trimmed away sagging skin, he will tighten the underlying muscles and at the end, he will close the incisions and cover them with bandages.
